The National Honor Society is an organization that was founded in the United States in 1921, with the purpose of encouraging excellence among students in grades 10-12. Now that Lincoln is a SACS accredited school, we are honored to open an NHS chapter which will grant membership to those students whose achievements are outstanding in scholarship, character, service and leadership.

The Lincoln International Academy’s NHS chapter will take the name of “St. Thomas of Aquinas”, Saint Thomas Aquinas was a priest of the Roman Catholic Church in the Dominican Order from Italy, and an immensely influential philosopher and theologian in the tradition of scholasticism.  Scholasticism is derived from the Latin word scholasticus, which means "that [which] belongs to the school", and was a method of learning taught by the academics (scholastics, school people, or schoolmen) of medieval universities circa 1100–1500.

The students need to meet the following requirements:

1.     Be a sophomore, junior or senior.

2.     Have an average GPA of 3.5 or better.

3.     Have participated in school activities, school organizations, or an elected office.

4.     Demonstrate a positive attitude, an interest in learning, a support of school activities, a concern for your community, and the highest character attributes.

5.     Complete the Saint Thomas Aquinas’ CHAPTER application form.

6.     Turn in a personal essay on the importance of service  and values in life.

7.     Submit a resume including a list of all organizations you are a member of and a record of all community services you have done.

8.     Include two recommendation letters from faculty members.

9.     Attend the induction ceremony.
